Leopoldo Guzman | Chairman & Chief Executive Officer

Leo Guzman founded Guzman & Company in 1987. Prior to founding Guzman & Company, Mr. Guzman served as Chief Investment Officer of Gulf Investments Company, a large, publicly held investment company in Kuwait. From 1971 to 1982, Mr. Guzman worked in corporate finance activities at Chase Manhattan and as a member of mergers and acquisitions group at Lazard Frères in New York City.

Mr. Guzman received his B.S. degree in Operations Research from the School of Engineering and Applied Science of Columbia University in 1969, and his M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business in 1971. He is the recipient of the 2002 Jerry I. Porras Award for Outstanding Achievement at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Mr. Guzman has also served as a member of the Stanford GSB Advisory Council.

In 2005, President George W. Bush appointed him to a three-year term on the Advisory Committee of the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation. Mr. Guzman has served on various securities industry advisory boards including the Regional Firm Advisory Committee of the NYSE and the Corporate Finance and International Committees of the NASD.


Mr. Guzman is a member of the Board of Visitors of the School of Engineering and Applied Science at Columbia University and a member of the steering committee of the Master in Financial Engineering program at Columbia University. He is a member and director of the Institute for Quantitative Research in Finance, and a member of the Chicago Quantitative Alliance and the National Organization of Investment Professionals.

Mr. Guzman holds the FINRA Series 3, 4, 7, 14, 16, 24, 27, 53, 63, 65 and 66 licenses.
